July 4, 2020 - Independence Day Picnic

The day was warm and sunny and despite the grim news about an upsurge in cases of the Corona virus in certain areas of the U.S., attendance at the annual Mallard Bay July 4 Picnic included some 40 enthusiastic participants.  Social Committee chairs Bob and Winky Mitchell did a superb job planning for an uncertain number of attendees and providing each with more than ample amounts of hot dogs and hamburgers.  As usual, the attendees contributed delicious side dishes, salads and desserts.  Despite the added routine of checking individuals' temperatures, maintaining social distancing and wearing masks, all had a great time formally socializing with their Mallard Bay neighbors for the first time since the end of February.

A new item this year was the firing of a Revolutionary War era cannon in celebration of the holiday.  The swimming pool was put to good use and Marshall Sebra set up his cornhole game which was particularly popular with the young folks in attendance.
